Hits Violin

How can I learn to play the guitar quickly? (I have 10-11 years of experience with violin)?
All the books/websites that I look at seem to spend an inordinate amount of time on music theory and other things that I already know. Basically I can, um… I think it’s called fingerpicking? The thing where you don’t play chords? Anyway I can do that really well, except when I get the strings confused, and I’m all like “OK I play an A…. oh wait it’s not the open string”. I have more trouble with the chords cuz I have really really small hands.
What I have trouble with, is like I said, the chords, and accidentally hitting the wrong string, either cuz I got it mixed up with violin or cuz I hit the wrong one just by mistake. Also, the sort of playing where you have song lyrics with chords above them, when I play such huge lengths of the same sound it just sounds horrible, and I can’t find anything on the internet about it and it’s not in my guitar book.

a great way to learn is just to screw around with the guitar, but as my instructor tells me, you should learn what note each fret is (at least for the first five or so frets on each string)
also, finger picking comes with experience, you have to learn the scales and such,
for chords, the more you play them, the easier it will be to stretch your hands that far, and play with the rhythm when playing songs, or get fancy and arpeggio it (i’m hoping as a violin player, you know what i mean)
