What’s a good plan for learning how to play the guitar from a book?
I have an acoustic guitar and the Hal Leonard Method Book 1. I’m starting to learn from the book but don’t know what type of plan to make since I don’t have a teacher. How much should I learn in a period of time?
learn as much as you want to. starting out your fingers will get sore until you toughen them up. a good way to start is to learn all the basic chords. A, A minor, E, E minor, G, D and C. later after you get those, try an F.
learn power chords too! aka “triads” they have a “root note” on either the E string(6th string, fattest string) or on the A string(5th string, second fattest string). use your index finger to fret… lets say the 5th fret of the low E string, then with your ring and pinky fingers, fret the A string and D string(the next two fattest strings) two frets higher aka the 7th fret. pluck those 3 strings. that is a power chord. that same shape can be moved all over the neck of the guitar to make some pretty awesome songs.
