Seeing a blue man made is sort of like watching a strange, otherworldly creatures explore their environment. It also makes you wonder exactly what kind of a Blue Man is and how one becomes one.
Blue Man Group was created in New York in the late 80's by three friends, Matt Goldman, Phil Stanton and Chris Wink, who started performing in the streets and eventually opened his show in an Off-Broadway theater in 1991. Continued to add shows in other cities and debuted in Las Vegas at the Luxor in 2000, before moving to Venice in 2005.
Blue Man Group has recorded three albums including the Grammy-nominated "Audio" "The Complex" and "Live At The Venetian – Las Vegas," which is available exclusively on iTunes.
The group also helped the score for the animated film "Robots", for which he created over 25 new metal percussion instruments to accentuate the music.
There are always three blue men featured on each show and a cast of eight men at the Venetian are constantly in and out of programming.
Trying to describe the nature of the blue man can be a challenge. Some people think that is a child, some think it's an alien.
"Blue Man is not an alien in the sense that he is from another planet, but the alien in the sense that it is very different from what we've all become, "said Matthew Banks, director and performer who has been with us for eight years.
He likes to describe the character as "part dog, part of five years old and part hero "or" shaman part party and part scientist liar. "
"Blue Man knows nothing, but is curious," said Banks.
However you choose to describe a blue man, which certainly has some special skills to become one.
"You have to be six feet tall, an actor and musician and be able to grasp things in their mouths, "said Banks. It is a joke and a half. The artists really have to be able to catch balls paint and marshmallows in the mouth around the stage and learn to do that is not easy. Banks said it takes a half hour of practice every day for a period six weeks of really master the feat.

Banks said the color is bright blue makeup and, although it takes about 45 minutes to enter suit, is relatively easy to wash off the color. The most difficult task is to remove the glue used to hold the bald cap. "We have become masters the peel, "said Banks.
Since the Blue Man character is silent, Banks said one of the biggest challenges he faces as a performer performer is not laughing during the show. He said another challenge is constantly working as a group of three and react and play with each other. Playing outside the hearing can have their moments too.

Despite the difficult few aspects, Banks said he was a blue man is an experience rewarding. "When we entered the lobby and meet the audience after that are so heartfelt. There are 86 year old who says he is the best show I've seen or if you have young children and for the first time. "
