How do you learn to play high notes on a Alto Saxophone?
I’ve been playing the Alto Sax for 3 years, and I can’t seem to get the high notes right. So hence the question above. So how do you play the high notes on an alto sax nicely?
You need to use a reed with some resistance.
A lot of it depends on the placement of the back of your tongue and where your lower lip is putting pressure on the reed.
The “Top Tones for Saxophone” by Sigmund Rascher is a great study on altissimo notes.
